Jerry Peek's Email Tips, Techniques, Thoughts...

I've used electronic mail since 1981. It's been a part of my life for most of the 8,000-plus days since then. (To put that in perspective, I started using email just after the first IBM PC came out. That was 10 or 15 years before most people had heard of the Internet.) I'm not saying that to make you think I'm old ;-) but mostly to show that I've had a lot of experience with this stuff, both as a user and a software guy. (I've also written several books that are at least partly about email.)

These pages have some things I've learned since I started -- both people-oriented and technical. Some are facts, a lot are opinions, and a few are just plain biases. I hope you'll find some tips that help you use email more effectively and efficiently.

• I use the MH Email System a lot of the time. MH is different than almost every other email program. It's complex and quirky; it's also showing its age. (And unless you're using Linux, Mac OS X, or another Unix-type system, you can't run MH.) Still, a look at the pages below might show you some things that you didn't know your current email program can do... or it might convince you that you need another email program!
