Apache Creek, NM
Apache Creek joins the Tularosa River at this spot east of Reserve. Apache Tribe leaders, Mangas Coloradas, Victorio, Geronimo, Chato, and Cochise were friendly to explorers and colonists near here — but fought back when their land and water were taken. Geronimo's surrender in 1886 ended the battles.
